Summer in Taipei!
I didn’t follow a fixed route. Instead, I used YouBike to move through ordinary Taipei neighborhoods, stopping for drinks, food, and whatever small details caught my attention.
The sky was clear that day—the kind of weather that makes you want to be outside rather than stay indoors. I rented a YouBike without much of a plan. At the time, the first 30 minutes were free, which was either a very generous policy or a very effective way to make everyone in Taipei pretend they were always almost done with their ride.
My plan, loosely, was to ride around and see what I came across: the ordinary beauty of Taipei, if there is such a thing. Scooters everywhere, a little chaos, and somehow a strange kind of charm holding it all together.
[Lunch Stop: Taiwanese Food Stall]
The thing I always like to do is riding my bike from area A to area B and stopping by a local Taiwanese food stall.
Today I went with my auntie to a place called Wanfang Noodles (萬芳麵館), located on the first floor of a local market.

Wanfang Noodles (萬芳麵館) Founded in 1977, it is a historic shop with nearly 50 years of history.
I usually come here around 11am-12pm, taking it as brunch.

After the meal, the auntie suggested we get shaved ice – which is traditional ice shake. There are various options.
I ordered a shaved ice base with 3 toppings (Taro, Mung Beans, and Taro Balls）

Next stop, I headed to Taipei main station for fixing camera in Taipei main station.
Below building is officially known as the Taipei Beimen Post Office (Chunghwa Post Taipei Branch 901), designed by Kuriyama Shun-ichi. He was a top government architect during the Japanese colonial era (1895–1945).
Not only one of the most historic post offices in Taiwan but also continues to serve as a vital hub for postal and banking services in the Greater Taipei area.

🥤Kaixi Oolong Tea (開喜烏龍茶) is a legendary, pioneering brand that revolutionized Taiwan’s beverage market. Launched in 1985, it was the very first brand to commercialize and mass-produce ready-to-drink iced Oolong tea in cans and bottles, single-handedly turning a traditional hot-pot tea culture into a modern daily convenience for the younger generation.
I got the Kaixi Oolong Tea from a traditional vending machine at the Songshan Tobacco Factory. It feels so nostalgic!
